NAUPA or the National Association of Unclaimed Property Administrators is a non-profit organization affiliated with the National Association of State Treasurers. Members that are present in the National Association of Unclaimed Property administrators constitute all the states and the District of Columbia. Every year, NAUPA conducts several meetings and seminars, in order to provide professional education chances for the policy makers of the state, executives, auditors, and bearers. Goals of NAUPA: The national association of unclaimed property administrators has a mission to spread and support professionalism among the people, who have the responsibility of complying with the standards of the unclaimed property administration. The association has set certain goals which it follows. The goals are:
The Role of the States: The national association of unclaimed property administrators prescribes that, every state makes a serious effort to help the people in locating their missing assets and giving it back to them. There has to be no type of cost, whatsoever, involved in the reuniting process with a few exceptions. The states are permitted to use the various publicity avenues such as the newspapers, enclosures, and mailing procedures to inform the owners about their property and also, suggest ways to reclaim it. There are other methods such as putting up booths at various sites that can be used by the states.
